Adsenseboy:
You have undoubtedly been asked this a ton of times. But, I would like to know if you should turn on AdSense Ads when you get to a certain amount of traffic? Should you turn on ads when you have had the site up for 6 weeks or ???? What is the basis of when to turn on ads? I have some sites that have been up for 3 weeks that are getting 1400+ clicks during that 3 week period (averaging 175 clicks a day for last week) and some that have taken 6 weeks to get to that amount of traffic. The amount of traffic if it didn't grow any more would be over 5000 clicks per month. What is your suggestion? AND reasoning ? Marten Davis -------------------- |

Well, I suggest activating AdSense when site starts getting high traffic. Usually it happens within 3-8 weeks after site launch (depends on niche, site settings, etc.).
I found that if I activate AdSense right after launching new site, traffic isn't very high. However, if I wait a little before activating AdSense, traffic goes higher and then I enjoy my clicks. So if your site gets nice traffic after 3 weeks, activate AdSense and enjoy! -------------------- I'm looking forward to assist you,

Adsenseboy: Thanks, that is what I needed to know. Marten Davis Adsenseboy: After thinking about this and looking at the clicks today, I decided to turn it back off and be patient. If it is doing this well, then I guess I will wait for it to build up. I got 426 visits to the page today with 111 clicks for 26% CTR. Is that about what I should expect for CTR? I am using the Level2 Template. Marten Davis -------------------- |

Your CTR is pretty high. Usually I try to lower my CTR sometimes. When CTR is 30% or more, Google team sometimes decide to review sites page by page to find out what is going on

Yes. Sometimes, if CTR is very very high for some sites, I just leave less ad units on these sites for a while

No problems. I know for some people it may sound sick if I want to decrease my CTR (so earnings get lower), but I love to keep my AdSense account safe.

I think that re-reading your book about 10+ times has helped me understand all of this MUCH better. Thanks for sharing all that information in the book. Marten Davis -------------------- |

Yeah, webmaster book covers many cool things. Very cheap ($19.99, IIRC) and effective way to get more traffic

FYI:
By leaving your adsense turned off for 30 to 60 days it 1.) allows your site to be indexed with out looking like a MFA site. 2.) it will give you a higher price point for your Adsense ads. Hoe this tid bit helps The Moor |
