Page Caching
« on: January 20, 2011, 02:09:26 PM »
I am using AWB but it seems like the pages load very slow.  I thought it was the hosting server causing this but I have another site that is not AWB and it loads fast.

I spoke with my hosting company to see what they can do on their end.  The ran some test and they said it is the software and the dynamic pages that are generated which takes some time.

They suggested I contact the developer and see about adding a caching module to occasionally through out the day cache the pagest so the load quicly.

So I am throwing out a suggestion to maybe explore this.  Now I understand "opening pandoras box" and maybe creating other issues.  I am not sure but if the system cached every couple hours after it makes new pages it would be fine except the quesiton is the adsence ads.  Not sure if that would have any issues with how those are served up.

But I am a little concerned about the user experiences with the slow rendering speed and maybe even an issue with google bot as it crawls the site.

I would like to hear you thoughts.

grip, thanks for your request. Let me explain how the software works.

When site has no pages, the software automatically publishes some pages and start building content on these new pages (the final content depends on modules you have enabled). Automatic Website Builder does NOT use duplicated and useless "copy/paste" articles like cheap website creator tools do; it builds 100% unique content. Usually it takes 1-5 seconds to build a new page (depends on server and software settings configured by user).

The same happens when new pages need to be published (every 24 hours).

However, the software builds new pages only once a day (unless you force content building engine to be launched via administration interface) and published pages are loaded right from MySQL database, so no performance issues should be noticed. If you experience any performance issues, it might be because one of these reasons:

1. The number of pages being automatically built is very high. You can change it via administration interface.
2. mySQL service is not properly optimized on server.
3. Server connection is slow. The software automatically parses many remote places (youtube, image sites, news portals, and so on) when publishing new pages, and if connection is slow, it might take some time.

Hope that helps.
I'm looking forward to serve you!

I have just 12 pages per day set to be built.

Currently the site has 2200 that has been built over time.

So maybe it is a sql optimization issue.  Perhaps I need a new host.  Maybe you can recommend one that will give me unlimited space and bandwidth, unlimited domains and mysql and is fast.  I am not married to Dreamhost at all.

Thanks

That's strange because 2200 pages is a very low number. Some users of AWB have sites with 10.000+ or 20.000+ pages running on shared hosting accounts.

Anyhow, if you are looking for unlimited disk space and bandwidth, you can try hosting24.com (Gold package or Unlimited reseller, depending on your personal needs). I know at least 30+ AWB users running the software on their servers at great performance.

P.S. You can use coupon code 'savebig' on their order page to get $2 monthly discount on selected package (the code is valid on all packages).

P.P.S. AWB 2 is under development.............

No problems with AWB performance here, but my sites don't have 10.000+ pages :)

grip, I have my sites hosted with dimereseller.com, the speed is OK.
Please forgive me for my English...

OK I am going to set that up because I am not impressed by my hosting company at this time.

Now another question.  AWB 2.0  ....  interesting.  What is the time frame.  I am getting ready to roll out several hundred sites over a period of time and I wouold not want to reduplicate my efrorts up grading this.

Also is 2.0 an upgrade to existing clients and is it a free upgrade or is this a totally new product launch.

Please advise,  Thanks.

PS to date I must say your tech support and the support I get from you via email and through the forum is top notch.  It is nice to actually get what you pay for and actually have it exceed you expectations.  So from me - THANK YOU.

grip, we don't have an exact timeframe for AWB 2.0 yet, but it should be ready at the end of February. Needless to say, this upgrade will be absolutely free because your order comes with FREE LIFETIME UPDATES. Unlike other publishers (who offer free upgrades for minor releases only), we offer free upgrades for minor and major releases.
I'm looking forward to serve you!

Is this an entire remake or is it a bug fix and perhaps some new or improved features ??
